Since the mid-1990s, 118 countries have carried out one or more Multiple Indicator Cluster Surveys, generating data on key indicators on the well-being of children and women, and helping shape policies for the improvement of their lives. Trained fieldwork teams conduct face-to-face interviews with household members on a variety of topics – focusing mainly on those issues that directly affect the lives of children and women. This comprehensive set of tools guide survey teams through every step of the MICS process – from overall planning, design and data collection in the field to data processing, analysis, interpretation, documentation and dissemination. Tools include survey modules, sampling guidance, analysis and reporting templates, and other resources.
