Dr. Hannah Blencowe is a clinician and perinatal epidemiologist, with over 15 years of experience in global health. Her research is focused on maternal, perinatal and child health with specific skills in improving national and global measurement and estimation of perinatal outcomes and in understanding the impact of adverse perinatal outcomes on women and their families and how this can be mitigated. She is excited about improving the use of data in policy and programmes to improve the health of mothers and babies worldwide and the care that they receive. She has a strong track record of publication with over 90 peer reviewed papers including Lancet papers regarding national and global rates of preterm birth (2012), stillbirths (2011 and 2016), and low birthweight (2019), plus contributions to book chapters and policy reports. She is passionate about teaching, mentoring, and supporting the development of early-career researchers including the supervision of both PhD and Msc students.
