Prof. Hadiza Galadanci is a Professor of Obstetrics and Gynecology in the College of Health Sciences, Bayero University Kano, Nigeria and the Director of a World Bank supported Africa Center of Excellence for Population Health and Policy. She has an established research network and has published over 100 articles focused on research topics such as Safe Motherhood, PMTCT and cervical cancer. In the academia, Prof. Galadanci has trained and mentored over 600 medical students, residents, and postgraduate students. She has served as a member in several initiatives and working groups including the West African Steering Committee on Reduction of Maternal Mortality, AlignMNH and the Nigeria Tertiary Education Trust Fund (TETFund) and is currently the Chair of the National Reproductive Health Working Group. Additionally, she has served as a consultant to many development partners including WHO, USAID, UNICEF, UNFPA, MNCH2 and has received various awards for her leading work in maternal health in Nigeria, including the FIGO Women Award in 2018. She has a Bachelor’s in Medicine and Surgery from Ahmadu Bello University Zaria, where she was the first female obstetrician trained in the Kano region, a Masters in Reproductive Health and Sexual Health Research from University College London and a Diploma from the London School of Tropical Medicine and Hygiene. She also is a fellow of the West African College of Surgeons and Royal College of Obstetrics and Gynaecology United Kingdom.
