This study evaluates the impact of the Bandebereho program, which aims to transform gender norms and promote male involvement in reproductive health. Conducted in Rwanda, the trial involved 1,123 men and their partners, assessing outcomes such as intimate partner violence (IPV), antenatal care attendance, and modern contraceptive use. The findings reveal significant reductions in IPV and improvements in couple communication and shared decision-making. Men who participated in the intervention were more likely to support their partners during pregnancy and childbirth, attend antenatal care visits, and use modern contraceptives. The study underscores the effectiveness of gender-transformative approaches in fostering healthier relationships and enhancing reproductive health outcomes, advocating for the broader implementation of such programs to address gender inequalities and improve maternal health.
