This study provides a comprehensive analysis of interventions aimed at engaging men and boys in sexual and reproductive health and rights (SRHR). The research highlights that while there is a growing recognition of the importance of involving men in SRHR to challenge gender inequalities, the proportion of gender-transformative interventions remains low. Out of 462 reviews, only 8.4% included such interventions, with most focusing on violence against women and girls. The study reveals that these interventions are more prevalent in lower and middle-income countries but often suffer from low quality and inconclusive results. The authors call for more robust experimental designs and qualitative evaluations to strengthen the evidence base and promote effective gender-transformative programming that can lead to significant improvements in SRHR outcomes for all.
